HEC-RAS 5.0.5 has been released!

HEC has released a new version of HEC-RAS called version 5.0.5 today.  This version is a bug fix only version (i.e. No new features).  Unfortunately in version 5.0.4 there was a bug in which User defined Manning's n value override regions for 2D Flow Areas (called "2D Area Manning's n Regions"), define in the Geometry editor, were not being applied to the 2D Faces.  So user's would be unaware that they were not getting modified Manning's n values for these override regions.  As this is a bad computational error, anyone that was using Manning's n override regions defined in the Geometry editor, should rerun their models with this new release of HEC-RAS 5.0.5.

In addition to that bug, several other minor bugs were also fixed.  Please review the Version 5.0.5 Release Notes to see all of the bugs that were fixed for this release.

  1. In every model I've worked on so far in RAS 5.0.5 the data export functions (max depth tiffs, geometry shapefiles) generate errors or empty shapefiles. Anyone else encountering this problem?

  2. ras mapper can't be open in windows 7 64 bit.
does hec ras 5.0.5 just run on windows 10?

  3. I'm glad to hear the release of HEC-RAS5.05.
As a beginner of RAS, I have a simple question:
I built a whole 2D area. And there is a small reservoir inside the 2D area. How can I delinete the reservoir boundary inside 2D area and add initial water level of the reservoir of 2D cells. Does the current version RAS can't work in this way?
Actually I'm a Chinese. Please ignore some grammar fault.

  4. hei, i know longer see "Node X vel" and "Node Y vel" in my 2d results hdf files after switching to 5.0.5. have they been removed?

  5. Hi I cannot open ras mapper in windows 7. How to overcome this problem
